It actually sounds like Abelson wanted to print a negative article and received some subtle persuasion from some money men. The positive for shorts is that finally the company might come under scrutiny. Now the comparison phase could begin and competitors might get a chance to wave their flags in Cook's face. I think the short has been at least halved over the past three weeks so the short pressure should not be extreme. If they try to spike the stock and get a muted reaction it could snap reverse. I wouldn't sweat too much short friends. Abelson don't carry the whip he used to. Wall Street has doubted him for the past 4 years.
