July 17 - CNet says Intel will cut Pentium III prices this weekend and again in
August. Price cuts on current Pentium IIIs will be as much as 15%, for example, the
Pentium III 450 MHz CPU will go from $263 to $226 (wholesale).
Next, the Pentium III 600 MHz CPU will be released August 1 and Intel will cut prices on
its entire CPU line on August 22. Similar cuts are expected on AMD's K6-2 and K6-3
CPUs.

July 16 - The RIMMs are rolling in per Rambus. Rambus stated that as of 30 June,
six Rambus DRAM licensees had validated twelve different 72 Mbit, 128 Mbit and 144
Mbit RDRAMs chips, all but one for operation at the full 800MHz. In addition, a total of
seven memory module suppliers had validated 28 different RIMM (Rambus In-line
Memory Module) configurations ranging from 64MB to 288MB capacity.
Rambus also announced that its third quarter revenues of $10.6 million were up 16% over
the same period last year and up 8% over the previous quarter.
