Speaking of building brand for Real. The new Mariner's ballpark, Safeco Field, has one of the best replay screens in the world and it is very visibly sponsored by Real Networks. Above the screen is a huge Real Networks logo and replays are shown as Real RePlays. I have no idea as to the efficacy or the cost of this technique for branding Real in the Seattle market, but I do know it is irritating the hell out of Microsoft execs! (Rob Glaser owns a small percentage of the Mariners, as do Microsoft execs, including Jeff Raikes and Chris Larson.) Now if the M's good only perform as well as RNWK....
