I'm not sure what your point is.

If you take the top 2 or 3 performers out of any portfolio of 30 or fewer stocks, it will have an impact on that portfolio's performance.


Sorry for being in obtuse mode.

I was just pointing out that the DOW's recent out performance over the S&P might be due to a few stocks that were laggards last yr (like HWP) and one that is having a great run (IBM). I guess it just shows how right Bob is in that the DOW is a lousy index for saying what the total market is doing.
