I was thinking of Caroline also. You are right, the Bessette family lost 2 daughters. So sad.

I just came from the store and people look gloomy.

Yes, of course. . .many of these families had terrible tragedies. Very sad. . .and the irony boggles the mind. I didn't know it was the 30th anniversary of the Ted Kennedy car crash, but did know that today was the 3rd anniversary of Flight 800. . .and that a good deal of today's search and rescue operation was present in the Flight 800 search and rescue.

I can't even imagine having to deal with the loss of a young daughter. And I am not raising any Kennedy to sainthood. . . in fact, the original money is said to have come from illegal bootlegging operations headed by Joe Kennedy. . .and there are many questions about the role of the mob in strongarming critical West Virginian union member voters in the JFK election.

But all of that aside, in the sixties, when the world watched John John deal with the loss of his dad. . . . he marked the end of the age of innocence and the start of a new era. . .
