The point for workers is, do you side with the crooks who are at least nominally on your side, the union bosses, or do you side with the crooks who will screw you every chance they get, management? <g>

Or do you push to become owners yourselves? To me all employees should push to become part owners of the company they work for, either through stock, or through performance bonuses tied to performance criterion.

Also, regarding an earlier post regarding long lines at a supermarket. This is not good for employees or management or stockholders. As a customer, I've stopped patronizing stores that are not adequately staffed.

MB,

Do you have a view on Wal-Mart as a put opportunity. While definitely a quality company, and one I'd like to own at the right price, the way I value this company it seems to be many years ahead of itself in terms of valuation.

I could see paying around in the high 20s or up to $30/share, but it's currently trading at $48.

The Presidential Cycle

I just checked the stock market action in all presidential periods since the 1940s:

cpcug.org
cpcug.org
cpcug.org
cpcug.org
cpcug.org

It appears that in recent history, the stock market has NEVER gone down in year 4 of a presidential cycle. Why? I would guess that if the incumbent party wants to win the next election, they need to keep the market up.

What does this mean? Is it possible they will gun the market up EVEN HIGHER as we move towards the election? This is scary!!!!

On the other hand, commodities are too cheap to get the votes of the agricultural communities.....will the democrats also try to get commodity prices back up?

Your thoughts??

To All, Ramblings: 1. Rambus didn't look so hot today. Unfortunately, I was a little too cutesy trying to buy my puts when it was over par and got some onesies and twosies. Yes, I made money, but I should have been more aggressive. Which is easy to know after the fact. <g>

2. IBM lost another $153 million in PCs this quarter. What a great industry. <g>
