OT He grew up in my neighborhood in Seattle, perhaps 3/4 of a mile away. While he was 3 years younger than I and attended private schools, his older sister was my age and attended public schools, as did I. We were in the same class in 6th grade and in some classes together throughout jr. hi and hi school. At any rate, she invited a few classmates over to her house in 9th grade to work on a class project. Billy was hanging around and introduced to all. He seemed unremarkable enough at the time, although in hindsight I might describe him as precocious and smart-alecky <gg>. I didn't attend our 25th hi school reunion, but apparently a big topic was the fact that we all went to school with Billy's big sis LOL! Interestingly enough, we couldn't get away from the guy. In about 1980, he moved into his own digs, a block away from our family home in Seattle. Given that msft was already public (I believe) at the time, the house was unremarkable enough. However, it did sport the distinction of a location across the street from Gary Larson of The Far Side! The amazing anecdote is that in the 11 years he lived there, never once did my parents lay eyes on him. He must have been living at his company on a defacto basis, as far as they could tell. (fwiw, they were not in direct sight of his place.) To complete the tale, in about 1991, he moved away and began building his mega-palace. Apparently his younger sister obtained title to the property, tore down the old place, a built a mega-house on the otherwise moderate-sized property. There goes the neighborhood <gg>! Disclaimer: To any Microsoft counsel reading the above, I am frequently prone to lapses of memory, bouts of narcolepsy, and delusions of grandeur. And besides you could find deeper pockets in Bill's underwear drawer!
