Excuse my ignorance, but would someone please explain what is meant by the phrase "Divicom is at an inflection point". Thanks

It's really not just Divicom, it's the entire C-Cube company. They are no longer just a VCD company. This means that as the VCD business declines, it will have less of an effect on C-Cube's growth.

Johannesburg (Screen Africa, July 16, 1999) - South Africa's largest compact disk (CD) manufacturing plant is poised to move into Digital Versatile Disk (DVD).

Compact Disk Technologies (CDT), with a track record for producing and selling 11.5-million CD units of both audio and CD-ROM in the past year, is investing R24-million in DVD manufacture in its Midrand plant. Until the local market develops, CDT's production of DVDs will be for the international market.

By joining the Warner Advanced Media Operations (WAMO) affiliate programme, CDT has secured the WAMO contract for DVD production in South Africa. Finished products from the CDT manufacturing plant in Midrand will be exported to fill WAMO orders worldwide, thus making CDT a world player, says MD Gerald Beacham.

WAMO has secured the exclusive rights for DVD production and distribution of Warner Home Video Products. Rick Marquardt, Senior Vice President of WAMO believes that the WAMO affiliate programme is an exciting opportunity to develop production plants in select sites around the world. CDT meets our stringent manufacturing standards. CDT is the sixth international plant in the affiliate programme, supported by its ISO 9002 certification, which it has held since 1995.

CDT's investment includes a new DVD manufacturing line, offset litho printing machine and all technical support and training. CDT anticipates being in full DVD Five, Ten and Nine production by September 1999 with an annual capacity of 2-million units.

CDT is part of Gallo (Africa) Ltd and the Millennium Entertainment Group (MEGA).
