Fantasia is sweet, and unusual, but it is often too sentimental. It does not build, but jumps from one composition to another, and the compositions are of widely varying quality. Finally, it is for very small children, who will get the most from dancing hippos...

The Empire Strikes Back, preferable to The Godfather II? Only if one prefers special effects to drama...

M--- You may be right about that one! A great movie. I just hadn't consider it in the genre, but why ever not?

Well, at least we agree that it is a David Lynch movie. The problem is that Eraserhead is basically a short that he padded, and TP:FWM is a full length movie...

Credible, and therefore I will not argue against, but for: The Wild Bunch is the most visceral expression of the male code of honor that drives the best Westerns....

A lovely movie... Again, I will not argue against, but for...Cabaret is the musical which most exploits the power of film to juxtapose and condense, and thus compensate for the loss of immediacy that occurs when the show is transferred from stage to screen...

The only other contender, and I will not bother to argue it...

If you don't like the genre, there is little I can say...

Dog Day Afternoon should at least win by default<g>....

Impromptu is credible enough, but hasn't the bold ethical dimension of Amadeus, nor the vitality...

Off- hand,I would say that you are correct about the best trilogy...

Love story? I would probably vote for Casablanca...
