PC Magazine reviews Ricochet

The August 1999 issue (p.124; not on the web yet) has a comparison of Ricochet with the ATT flat-rate service ($55-65/month plus $500 modem) which it says is slow (2.2-12.5 kbps) but widely available.

Of Ricochet, it says of the R2 expansion, "If Metricom can pull it off, Ricochet will be a must-have for those who want web access whenever and wherever."

This is courtesy of RB poster Crestine I believe. I haven't checked it but should add to awareness.

BTW I spoke with my ATT wireless friends and they admitted to me that they would not use any of the current services for data while in car. Reception just not up to it. They had never heard of MCOM.

If MCOM really can be used in a speeding car, it will rock. Now if I can only have a full time chauffeur by the time it comes to Boston, I'll be able to work 24/7 as well as being able to do all the other nice things I enjoy in a limo.
