"That's why bubble talk ... consists of emotional stories, vague formulations and sensational warnings," he said."

Gosh, that statement kind of reminds me of this thread.

Sure does, and it would be true if it weren't for the Austrian school writings on credit expansion. Feel free to critique it.

Paper,

>>"That's why bubble talk ... consists of emotional stories, vague
formulations and sensational warnings," he said."<<

I made a few adjustments.

"That's why new era talk ... consists of preposterous stories, wishful rationalizations, and sensational lies," he said" (g) :-)

not true. the bears take an analytical approach. we take historical values. we look at book value relative to avgs and make adjustments for the new things in the economy. we look at history. we look at credit build up. we look at deteriorating savings. we look at asset inflation. we look at chained pc sales and see why the gdp is over stated 100%. we look at new age accounting and attempt to figure eps to compare apples to apple w/ history.

the bulls, on the other hand, say things like "buy a good company (with no regard for valuation whatsoever - just buy it), stocks always go up, fundamentals don't matter, etc, don't get left behind, bears are a myth, dow 25k in 3 years, your just emotional, now buy stocks."

so far, the analytical approach is being trashed by large cap stocks and a few others. however, it is disingenuine (sp?) to say it is an emotional approach.

PC, The only problem is, the article was mostly lies, like stocks go up only when eps are good. Nope, there are too many examples of lousy eps reports pushing stocks up. But, as usual, those at the top of the pyramid are the ones who most believe Mr. Ponzi's spiel. <g>
