I agree with your comments on the weight of Gates.-g- The percentage of his net worth that investment represents is a fraction of 1%.

Beyond that he got the IPO price or better. Beyond that, as an investment one does not even need to believe that the science will work to make money on the IPO price. This market will drive any story in to the stratosphere.

So I, agree with you, that Gates involvement means very, very little.

I was long VaxGen before I had learned that both Paul Allen and Gates have taken equity positions. I would not buy this stock or any stock simply on the basis of either of these two making it known that they were involved in a particular stock. On the other hand, there is some comfort in knowing that the 1st and 3rd richest men in the world have taken a position in a company that I am already a shareholder in.
