That is disgusting...honestly. Leave it to EBAY. Did anyone hear that story of the kid who rang up $300,000 in purchases on EBAY-he was only 12 and EBAY didn't bother to check him out (especially as he approached the several thousand dollar mark.)

Well, they had his flight instructor Markus somthing-or-other and he said he had 505 hours, had been training at Vero in an intensive course, and had a general aviation liscence. Not instrument rated. Which appears in this case to have been what could have saved the plane (he may be alive..until a body is found..or two full days have passed). Total flying expereince 15 months. He typically took another pilot with him as a safety, but recently had given up that practice. The plane was bought in March second hand (it was a 95, which is young for a plane)and was not the type of plane he trained in but several steps up.

As reported on CNN.

CG:

40 hours is all that is required to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate. Flight Safety is the second best flight training center in the world.

500 hours in a year is a lot of hours to gain experience. Don't forget that this was a high performance aircraft. He had to have additional instruction and a sign off on that.

I do agree with you that he probably should not have attempted the flight. I feel he had what pilots refer to as "Get there itis".
