Can I tell all alittle story, about a year and a half ago, I heard about the latest craz, a thing they called the Internet it was every where you turned on TV, Radio spouting WWW this WWW that, well I started investigating. I opened an AOL account and with the help of a friend I started surfing for the first time. Well it wasn't long before I started experiencing problems with AOL, couldn't get on, local service only allowed for 12,200 baud speed, long waits to load pages. I became very frustrated and walked away from the internet. The reason I tell this story, when I decided to check the net out I choose AOL a brand name, their TV, radio, mag, ads put the seed in my head.

I have never been very well off my whole life, always made just enough to get by, never really had any money to invest so there for i never paid that much attention to the market. Well over the last few years I have finally been able to put alittle aside and now had enough that I started to look into higher returns then the local bank. A friend suggested that I buy some mutual funds, not knowing a thing about how you go about buying them, I turned to an ad I read in a magazine, it was a E*Trade ad and it told me I could buy mutual funds, so naturally I opened and E*Trade account to purchase funds. I had seen their ads on TV and in magazines, I never even knew I had a option to go anywhere else. So their flood of the market with advertising got me. I went with a Name Brand.

Now I am venturing into stocks and you guessed it, the first ones i purchased was AOL and Etrade, Name Brands, businesses that are widely thought of as leader in thier fields. I never even heard of Charles Schab the #1 OLB to me E*Trade is #1. Well it was long after I started trading stocks that a friend told me if I was serious about trading that I need to keep myself informed about what was going on in that stock and the best source was this thing called the Silcone Investor, there you can communicate with other share holders and find their thoughts on things, and so I have been reading your thread for the last few months now, and you know he was right, I get more information about whats going on then I could ever find out on my own.

The reason I type this, is to say E*Trade is right to be spending all their money on advertising, it works, there are a lot more people out there like me that need to be steered in the right direction. Advertising dose just that, it puts there name in your conscience mind and they might even tell a friend.
