No reason to go through a broker then. You just open your Fed account as a Roth.

When the IRAs first came out I just bought CDs through a bank registered as Ish-IRA. Later I transferred them to some no-load funds touted by Money magazine. Should have stuck with the CDs as the funds have shown less life than old horse apples.
