Y2K and Hedging G&K holdings ..

Interesting reading everyone's thoughts on this issue ..
As I see it there are always two risks in any market ..
Market risk and specific issue risk .. the thread participants
need to decide wether investor reactions to Y2K are more likely
to result in a general market sell-off or to specifically impact
their core holdings .. How one answers that basic question will direct one to the appropriate hedging techniques utilizing exchange traded unit trusts such as DIA/SPY/QQQ, index futures/options, or
specific issue options/leaps .. Covered calls/leaps would not be the
appropriate hedging strategy for anyone not willing to risk being
called out of a portion of their core holdings ..

JDSU secondary

Frank,

Thanks for your response concerning CC's. Although I wouldn't
want the Y2K issue to become a red herring in our pursuit of another
Q, it could become a major (if short term) issue this fall, IMO.

JDSU? I have the same questions concerning the secondary. These
companies have been so strong, we investors have come to expect
nothing but greatness.

The general consensus is a split (2/1), but there is a definite possibility of acquisitions in the near future. If only I could predict!

Again, great thread, hope I will be able to contribute a little.
