Steve, early this year MBT had continual quote problems which they blamed on everything from ISP's to the web to Comstock and to the exchanges--everyone but themselves. The chat room was filled with daily complaints. FINALLY MBT owned up to the problems in an email dated 2/3/99 where they talked about system upgrades that were to be underway and which were at that time expected to take about a month (delayed, they said, due to Ameritech's failure to make timely delivery of certain equipment). They also noted in that email that they were no longer taking new accounts for a period of time to play catch up, because they were just growing too fast and the system then in place just couldn't handle the traffic. They also noted that because of the problems that they would credit some of the data fees, although those of us who made the 50 trade minimum where data fees are waived didn't see any benefit.

Once they finally did the system upgrade the connection problems abated, but for a few other days of random but not prolonged outages.

Can't believe you don't remember that...or were you just blocking it because it was so painful? :D
