I live in the New York Metropolitan area and we are having one of the hottest summers in many years. Some may have heard of the NYC blackouts and here in NJ we have had rolling blackouts with demand exceeding supply as new usage records are made.
I think it would be fair to say it has been a hot summer on the entire east coast and eastern half of country. With this happening I am seeing is natural gas cash and futures pricing is moderating after a
move up in late spring.
How can we correlate NG usage to electrical demand and thus sales.
Where are the NG power plants placed nationwide? Are just the newer plants operating on NG.If we have record energy usage as we do now for the entire summer how will NG pricing react.Afterall CHK production is near 80% NG per company and oil though 20% of production is now over $20 barrel. How does CHK's NG get transported to the utilites for use, pipeline of course, but do their lines favor certain geographical areas
of the country? IF so where and what summer conditions are prevalent there?
I say this because of my earlier comments,we don't have enough electricity here in the Northeast to meet demand.Shoudn't NG and oil prices reflect these demands.
Any comments and thoughts are appreciated.
