USWest has been one of the leaders in rolling out DSL service to its customers, starting over a year ago in Phoenix. It has been available in increasingly wider areas in the Denver area for some months now. My line became qualified in early June and the service is fabulous. My rated speed is 256 Kbps. The service is $29.95 per month plus the ISP fee (which has been reduced to $17.95 per month from $21.95 per month for DSL customers using uswest.net for service.) This will enable me to cancel my second phone line.

Installation was performed by USWest for $99 plus $50 for the CISCO DSL modem, which USWest advertising describes as a "$245 value".

From this morning (07/19/99) issue of the Denver Rocky Mountain News:

Full page ad touting USWest Megabit (read: DSL) services. At the bottom, under the heading "USWest MegaBit Services capable ISPs as of July 1, 1999 in Colorado" there are listed a couple of dozen or so ISPs that apparently can now offer DSL service in Colorado (providing the customer's residence is within roughly 14K feet of a central office, of course).

At the head of the list: America Online.

I know that DSL service has been considered very important for AOL and thought that fans of the company would appreciate having this information.

Apologies if this has been posted before or is old news.
