Well the thing thats really wierd about this is that they decided to raise taxes. Why not lower the revenue the schools were getting in the rich districts to the level in the poor districts and see what happens, just for an interim period until a real solution can be reached? Obviously that is not a perfect solution but it avoids the incredible havoc of drastically increasing everybody's property taxes. There are some Texas residents here maybe they can comment... I do know that when I was in Austin I looked at some houses for sale and they always tell you "this is a robin hood district" and that was my cue not to buy the house.... not a good situation.

I'd also like to know how they came up with the inequity rankings, I mean west texas seems like it is going to score lower than Austin no matter how you slice it... were they looking at statewide test scores, or what? So see what a mess this is, its hard to say whose fault but the natural tendency is to blame the person in charge
