My friend Tim:

The price action in QCOM (imho) shows the "market" expects QCOM to
report at least 10 cents above the so called estimate. The so called
wisper numbers are a joke and not worth looking at. Again imho, QCOM
will need to report over 80 cents a share for QCOM to further increase
in share price. Of course others have their own opinions.

Sure is a nice day
Michael

Curious as to where the forecasts are coming from, The Prophet. Most consensus earnings est's I'm seeing at sites are .59 - .60, with a single .68 the highest on an individual basis. Not saying I think they're right but even the earnings whisper sites are running .61 - .63. I'd think they'd be in tune enough to at least slightly update the est's, not? ...Tim

I am pretty sure that the estimates on both the whisper sites and from analysts will be for operating earnings. This estimate will include the two months of losses associated with the infrastructure division (the sale to Ericsson didnt close until around May 25th). I think that the more important number is the pro-forma number (which is the on-going number). I think that there will probably be a difference of at least a dime between these two numbers....that might partially account for the people on the board being so much higher than the whisper numbers.

I agree. I think that analysts are expecting much higher numbers. A true "whisper" number is always elusive. Fortunately for me, I'm one of those waiting for a misguided selloff, so I hope that the whisper numbers are not met.
