I agree 100%. The only choice that a neophyte has is to select either workstation or server and not even attempt a custom install.

Then why is "custom install" the default? :)

When I put RH 5.2 on this PC last year, I had a copy of Partition Magic lying around - I'm going to have to fish it out of my parents place, because even if I figure out fips or Disk Druid, neither makes me feel secure about reversing the process and getting my whole disk back to FAT32 (Windows) if I toss Red Hat Linux in the future.

This whole silly "real men don't need a luser interface" thing needs to be replaced with an "A GUI is there to provide GUIdance" sort of attitude.

---matt, still Linux-less, and hoping to fish out Partition Magic next sunday.

Oh, and Tom, please let us know why you might pass on RHAT stock. If someone as pleased with the company and the product as you has reservations about buying in at the open market, perhaps more of us should.
