>>>Unfortunately the fishing wasn't great the week we were there (either that or the fishermen were underskilled)

Maybe not, I've found the 2 most important things are location and weather. Walleyes like overcast windy areas where deep water waves push over the a shallow flats, gotta fish in the wind...no matter how nasty, in fact the naster the better...it mostly knocks loose their food, I figure.

And how shallow, to how deep depends on the time of the year and water temp. It usually take me 2 to 3 days to find the grocery store weather permitting.....and no A.W...it isn't like Erie.

Took mama up there on our Honeymoon after going there 6 or 7 years on my own. She caught a 10lb Walleye on Wednesday on Wind...then it went dead calm...till Thrusday in the late afternoon as I raced across the lake(I could do 70mph then...got me a fast boat after getting caught by that tornado in Minnesota on Leach in the middle 13 miles out)... faster then the wind mind you.... and fast enough to catch the waves before they appeared on the other end of the lake in the same exact spot the day before(about 5 miles distance, on a lake with 630 miles of shoreline in the absolute middle of nowhere)...

Mama landed a nice 39incher in the same darn spot as the day before(when the wind finally caught up to us)...both have been mounted since....Mama and the two fish.

Never fish without the Wife...IMO. Just in case fishing falls off, can't do that golfing with your buddies and have a bad day...JMHFLO.
