ed, I don't think MSFT plans to dump the entire $400m back onto the income statement in one quarter. Mr. Maffei said the adjustment would amount to 1 cent increase in earnings per quarter, over the next several quarters, as I recall. Sorry for not fully explaining that in detail, but the details are rapidly becoming a distant memory. In any event, one seasoned MSFT analyst said at the time that the SEC investigation was a "non-event". I don't care to trouble myself further over it.
