We should refrain from speculating the earnings of QCOM. Since almost all of us are longs on the company, there is a tendency to have exhuberant for the earnings, hence, making estimates that sometimes are unrealistically high. Some people treat the postings as aa component of the whisper number, rasing the bar too high for QCOM. So, when the actual earnings are released, even they are way above estimates, the market might not be satisfied due to not beating the "whisper numbers". As a result, the stocks are sold off.

While it might be fun to compare our predictions, but based on the experience of Dell Computer about a year ago, that tradition of giving estimates was abandoned. Let us learn from Dell thread. There are very very smart people over there, just like there are many many bright mind on this thread.
