Your forgetting De-Beers Controls the Diamond Prices.
Thats the Reason they wanting Ekati Diamonds.
The more Diamonds that come to market buy others without De-Beers involved in selling them forces the prices down.

I've been waiting to hear someone else say that, why would Debeers want to run a labour intense operation like this? That is not their area of expertise. Does Debeers run any other little mines like this? At best WSP will produce about a million carats a year and it remains to be seen if they can do it at a profit. Diamond prices are not in any trouble even with the new production coming out of NWT over the next 5 years. Argyle will be closing up shop in about 4 years that will take 40 million carats off the market.
