Wasn't it a character of Wilde's who described a British aristocrat hunting foxes as "the unspeakable in hot pursuit of the inedible"?

I prefer Wilde to Trollope.

Read the Parliamentary Novels- that chronicle the lives of the Pallisers. These novels were made into a really luscious series by the BBC (imo) but the books are even better. I read Disraeli's books, because several people told me HIS Parliamentary novels were even better but I cannot agree. I prefer my Trollope.

Yep. Do try Trollope again. Before going to Barchester Towers, read the first book in the series, The Warden.

Edit: and yes, there is as much emotion and drama behind the vicarage walls as outside them.
