<<Well, to make a long story short, I tried a couple of the new anti-depressants, Zoloft and Wellbutrin, and they helped me through a bad time, but I don't take them anymore. I take supplements that I get from the health food store that work almost as well without the unpleasant side effects.>>

I had a bout with depression 3 years ago. Started taking Zoloft. That really cranked my head, spent a lot of nights alone in a dark room with a bottle and a loaded pistol. Got off that real quick and tool St. Johns Wort for a time and that helped. I talked to a head mechanic and found I was ADD which explained a bunch. I don't mind being nuts as long as I know why. Quit the Wort and developed a new attitude and feel fine.

The thing that had me feeling the worst was playing chess. I'd have my moves planned out 5 moves in advance and do #5 while forgetting 1-4. Really felt stupid.

Very interesting post. I knew a person who's husband left her for another woman, moved her out of the house and moved the other woman in so when her kids visited dad dad was in their house with another woman AND she got demoted AND her mother died all in about a month. I used to see her in stressful work situations and she would be completely calm when everyone else was falling apart...and I thought to myself this must be the result of prozac. I could be wrong but something must have gotten her through that.
