Global One's Future Is Unclear
As Partners' Alliance Unravels

The longstanding partnership between France Telecom SA and Deutsche Telekom AG appears to be unravelling and the impact on their Global One SA alliance with U.S. long-distance carrier Sprint Corp. isn't yet clear.

Over the weekend, France Telecom officials said the company plans by the end of the year to sell the 2% stake it holds in Deutsche Telekom. As a symbol of the strategic alliance that the French and German companies formed in the early 1990s, the two firms agreed last year to exchange 2% of their capital.
