INSP 57s Developing Instant Message Service that Will be Capable of Tapping into AOL user base: ZDNET

ZDnet is reporting that software developers Tribal Voice and Infospace, are preparing instant messaging services that will be able to tap into popular "buddy list" services offered by AOL. The new systems, which capitalize on programming hooks for AOL's Instant Messenger service that have been accessible to developers for more than a year, will alert users when acquaintances come online and allow them to exchange messages on a real-time basis.
In theory, portals like Yahoo! and The Microsoft Network will be able to develop their own software on-screen interfaces that can communicate instantly
with AOL's massive user base according to the report.
