Jim, The MMC is very hard to manufacture as tolerances are much more stringent. The stacking of chips is problematic and requires a learning curve. It seems unlikely that lesser skilled assemblers like PNY, Viking, etc... will be able to compete head-to-head. Some of the larger competitors with resources will compete, but SNDK has a bit of a head start. MMC is an open standard. This is done to create second sources and to insure competitiveness in the market place. My personal take on the situation is that CompactFlash assembly is a lay-up, while MMC is a three-point shot (left handed). Aus
