Patrick,

One more:

Siliscape - . Siliscape, a Palo Altobased startup, has developed a chip that allows devices like flip phones or laptop computers to project Super VGA screen images nearly the size of a standard computer screen in front of users when the device is held six to eight inches from the user's eye. According to Mr. Weinman of AVI, the information appears in midair almost like a hologram.

Siliscape's breakthrough stems from research into folded-optic silicon technology. Mr. Weinman claims that this technology could radically change the landscape for a wide array of handheld devices by enabling full-screen displays from very small form factors. The company is working with Nokia to adapt the technology to the Nokia 9000 mobile phone and is also talking to the Silicon Valley manufacturer RayChem about possible synergies. Besides mobile communications devices and laptops, one application might be entertainment devices like portable DVD players.

Sorry for flooding you with PAWW additions a few days back. I do a lot of DD's and I'm sure I've run across more companies with Paul Allen's money than is in your list. Paul Allen is one of my boy's heroes and have written a school report on him... of course Dad has to do most of the dirty work. <g> I'll try to remember where I had his report stashed...
