If communism is so great- how come so many people try to defect? I always said that about the Berlin wall. Nobody (to my knowledge) ever got shot trying to escape INTO East Germany. That tells you something. Totalitarianism sucks if you have a brain- and who wants to live in a country where only conformists can be safe and happy?

OT I can very much appreciate your position, however, the US gov't knows they are not the only super power in the world. The only recourse the US has against China is in the form of economics. Unfortunately for the Taiwanese, the pressure on the US gov't, by big business, will result in a lot of jawboning, but very little in the way of meaningful support. Big business is just drooling all over themselves to break into the billion+ chinese market. What are your suggestions for US aid to Taiwan?
