I am an unusual St. John's alumnus: I learned something. I will tell you a story: my junior year, an earnest young friend of mine came to my table in the dining hall and started quizzing me on the Meno. After he had assured himself that I knew it pretty well, he revealed to me the reason. He had decided to do his freshman essay on it, and had tried talking to a few of my classmates about it. They were barely able to recall it. After a lot of effort, one of them remembered the initial question,"can virtue be taught?", and one of the others said something about "recollection", without being able to quite recall what he meant...As for Alcibiades/Clinton, I think that the more apt comparison is with Julien in the Red and the Black, or maybe (how can I resist?) Elmer Gantry....
