OSB - Oriented Strand Board, is in high demand with prices up strongly from prior years. I do some consulting in the lumber field, and my clients that produce OSB are positively giddy over the prices they have been getting this year.

All thanks to the strong US housing market.

OSB is a low-cost plywood substitute which is now selling at a record price of $340 (US) per thousand square feet.

Early this year, OSB prices were about $200 (US). Even at that price, however, production was profitable for efficient OSB makers.

No inflation here. Prices are only imaginary.
