And I still don't beleive the US will sit back and let China take Taiwan by force. I think there will be some really serious sabre-rattling by the US first. And that could result in war. And that will send this bull back to the barn.

Don't lose sleep on it. It is very unlikely to happen.
China and Taiwan had been in war for half century, we always find a way to save face for both sides. In the 50's the war was so bad, USA worried it wouldn't end. But we found "alternate fire" to cool it. Even days it is China's turns to fire at us and we would not return fire. Odd days it is our turns. Later we changed to alternate weeks then cease fire eventually.
