This is a little off topic so I apologise to the thread. Yes you are correct most PGM's are mined in these two areas. Although Russian Supply is diminshing as they have sold off most of their reserves, and their mines may be running low. That is why Palladium has exploded in the last year. Stilwater mining in Montana will be producing about 1 million ounces of PGM's by 2001 to be the largest producer outside of SA. To put it in perspective only about 5 milion ounces of Platinum are produced anually worldwide and demand for both Palladium and Platinum are outstriping supply. There is a whole lot of info on the SouthernEra web site about PGM's as they have just pruchased a PGM mine in SA that will produce 120,000 ounces of PGM a year by 2002. They are predominantly a diamond producer but this aquisition is interesting and hasn't been valued into the stock at all.
