Today was like a house with a bad roof in a monsoon. . . . . .. . . running here and there trying to plug holes. . . and thinking that at this rate, it won't be long until the whole roof come crashing in. I sold a few stocks at losses today to keep my portfolio balance steady. THIS is what I DIDN'T do last year, when I took a MAJOR hit this very week. Everyone was discussing earnings week . . and I bought it. . .[didn't use my own mind] but almost nothing ended the week higher. . . .and many got clobbered. So this year, I am WAY cash. And still looking for some opportunities to sell into morning strength. I am playing swing trades, but diminishing positions. Glad I didn't buy too much ALLP this AM. . .from the moment I mentioned my buy, it fell nearly a full dollar. . . . hoping it falls like mad tomorrow, so I can buy my second [largest] position . . . perhaps at 2.25? ALLP Intraday [posted ALLP 9:45am]: quote.yahoo.com Remember, how I kept saying that the first buy was on spec?. . . I wanted it lower before building a core position. Just in case anyone is new here. . . .when I post what I am buying [small quantity], if it is NOT a momo with serious volume, we wait and watch. . . On position trades, I often post my buys on daytrader chat boards. . . if we are lucky, they get shorted back. . . then the next day or the day after, we make the "real" buys. . .or start a new SAM. . . so never be in a hurry to jump into anything. . . be savvy. I'd say this method works about 85 percent of the time on the low volume stocks, low price issues. Now when I put something in SAM, I do NOT post it anywhere. . . .unless there is some circumstance that would preclude it. And it is generally not getting much attention or volume or anything. Finally, once a SAM starts getting too much attention, it ceases being a SAM and switches to a "momentum play", where we take profits on the spikes . . at different levels, depending on pending news, volume rate, trade rate, momentum and other circumstances often discussed openly here. Sounds like a lot of tricks. . . and it is. . . .but since December 98, these methods have proven to work quite well for the long term. We have rarely missed seeing serious gains. And this is the reason that we go stealth. . . . when we buy at the low. . . . like under 3 on BDE, UOLP, etc. . . . if it gets hit with shorting at 6 or 7. . . it doesn't hurt that much. Which explains why we discourage anyone jumping in late. If you miss a SAM, wait until the next one. You will probably be better off in the long run. Rande Is
