Microsoft to Sell Sidewalk to Ticketmaster - 10:23 AM EST - TK
Microsoft is considering selling Sidewalk, their consumer guidance site, to TicketMaster Online for a 9% stake in the rival company. This would value Sidewalk at $225 million and allow Microsoft to monetize part of its online assets.

Microsoft Corp. is expected to exchange key parts of its online city and consumer guide service Sidewalk with major rival TicketMaster Online in exchange for a 9 percent stake in TicketMaster, people familiar with the deal told the Wall Street Journal. The Sidewalk sale, which has been negotiated over the past several months, may be announced as early as Monday, the Journal reported, and would be valued at $225 million. In addition to a 9 percent stake in TicketMaster, which has a market value of about$2.5 billion, Microsoft would receive the rights to acquire as much as a 15 percent stake in the company and in exchange would sell the Sidewalk brand name, arts-and-entertainment content as well as the rights to hire Sidewalk's editorial staff, though not its technical and advertising employees. - CnnFn.com
