Sire, I owe my fealty to Queen Rambi, our First Benevolent Ruler. Has the Queen ordered me to petition you on behalf of Sir Lather?

Sire, perhaps you have misunderstood me. The Black Knight does not represent Sir Lather, admirable though his service to the Kingdom is. The Black Knight serves only Queen Rambi, defending our kingdom and waging war at her request. Therefore, regrettably, it is not my place to petition your Excellence on Sir Lather's behalf. I can only serve one master, or mistress, in this case my most beloved Queen. I was merely remarking that it was my understanding that Sir Lather was, in fact, the Royal Alchemist. I meant no disrespect.

Nevertheless, may I respectfully point out that, if we were not to have the worthwhile services of Sir Lather as Royal Alchemist, it would put us at a most serious disadvantage in the event of war? Our enemies would have no alchemist of his caliber - unless, of course, he were dissatisfied with his treatment in our Kingdom, and sought a place where he was better appreciated? A man of Sir Lather's abilities is far better positioned on our side, it seems self-evident, does it not? If you were to appoint Sir Lather Royal Alchemist, Queen Rambi would be most pleased at your brilliance, I believe you would find yourself amply rewarded by both the Queen and Sir Lather, your Excellence. And my troops would be grateful, too, as well as my humble self.
