Scumbria,

<My take on Intel and PC133 is that DRDRAM offers no advantage on the motherboard, and Intel is finally admitting that they made a mistake.>

I wonder why the people on the RMBS/INTC thread don't see it the same way. Intel has basically come out and admitted that RMBS may be be competitive with DDRSDRAM clearly implying that it is not competitive with PC100/133 and they do not have a chipset to support that until Q1 Yr2000. And if PC133 has roughly 12-18 month life, we are looking at Rambus becoming meaningful, at the earliest, in H2 Yr 2000 - probably with Timna's introduction. Do you agree?

KZ was wondering what the next big turn of events from Intel would be. I think we have a winner here! The scale of this fiasco I think will become evident in Q4'99 and Q1'00. VIA can bundle a highly effective socket 370 solution than Intel thanks to its CPU/chipset/motherboard solution (assuming the NSM deal goes through). The stakes may have become high enough for Intel to scuttle the Via/Cyrix deal. Let's see.
