Unclewest:

Here's last paragraph from EBNS

"Intel's MacWilliams said he believed that once Direct RDRAM ramps next year, it will win out over a rival double-data-rate (DDR) PC266 SDRAM memory. He said the DDR chip requires new interfaces from the existing PC133 SDRAMs, has a new 128-bit protocol, and will need a new infrastructure. He claimed all the DDR changes make Direct RDRAM very competitive."

RDRAM BECOMES COMPETITIVE. I was led to believe RDRAM was non-competitive with PC133 or DDR. I.E. You could not make a reasonable comparison due to the tremendous speed advantage of RDRAM. NOW DDR is competitive. Also, he's talking more about infrastructure issues not speed issues. I don't like what I am hearing and I am sure the market will not like it tomorrow.

Any idea where we go tomorrow? I have this sneaking suspicion that we'll be down for a while.

One get's the feeling that RMBS is being "played" by some master manipulator here. Wildy up one week, then wildy down the next. If we could just predict which week is which!

Unclewest,
Let me add my thanks, to the others you received, for all your hard work on keeping track of Rambus and all the news. I have stayed away from yahoo until you posted your problems overthere. So I spent some time tonight reading a hundred or so posts. I have even more respect for you now. How can you slog thru all the crap over there?
Did you ever get an answer to why they cut you off? Maybe they felt you added to much class to their site and you were ruining the neighborhood!

Intel's "announcement" was just good business. They listened to their customers said and acted to placate them. They haven't committed anything other than to study the issue. They can now do so openly, as Tom Warren suggested. If RDRAM fulfills its expectations and suppliers can ramp quickly enough then the whole "announcement" will be forgotten. If problems arise with the ramp then Intel won't be left out in the cold and they don't have to surprise anyone with another "transition technology" late in the game.

You have to wonder about the timing. First there was no press announcement. Second, was it coincidence that it came after the huge runup last week?
