Soup!

Are you lost again. You come on this board every week and give us an update on Apple. July 7, July 14 and now here you giving us an update for this week.

Do you realize that we (RNWK investors) are not marooned on some island and if we want an update on Apple we can get it by going to the Apple site.

Surely no one from this board is going over and posting all this RNWK good news on Apple's board.

Listen.com and encoding.com Team-Up; Partnership will make it easier for consumers to locate legal downloadable music as it is made available by distributors
BUSINESS WIRE - August 03, 1999 06:22
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 3, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) -- Listen.com and encoding.com announced today that they will work together to enable consumers to find new, legal downloadable music faster than ever. Listen.com is the Internet's comprehensive music download directory and encoding.com is the leading provider of audio and video encoding solutions for the Internet.

For select encoding.com clients, the Seattle company will provide Listen.com with information about downloadable audio tracks that will automatically 'seed' Listen.com's directory with relevant track data. This will allow encoding.com clients to have their music listed in the directory as soon as it is made available on the Web and will make this content quickly accessible to online consumers.

"encoding.com is focused on redefining Internet media solutions and applications that empower our clients' Internet media strategy," said Martin Tobias, founder and CEO of encoding.com. "As our clients deploy increasing amounts of content, especially music, they will need a way to promote that content as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. Working with Listen.com, we were able to develop a solution that would automatically populate Listen.com's music content databases - saving our clients the time and hassle of individually registering literally hundreds and thousands of songs."

"Listen.com is thrilled to be working with encoding.com," said Listen.com's founder and CEO, Rob Reid. "encoding.com is going to play a huge role in getting new artists and their music up on the Web. This relationship will help consumers find those artists in our directory as soon as their music hits the Web and will help Listen.com continue to provide the most comprehensive music download directory on the Web."

Listen.com's directory helps consumers locate and learn about legal downloadable music available anywhere on the Web. The directory includes: search; categorization of nearly 600 music genres; capsule reviews; a guide to better-known artists with music on the Web; links to downloadable tracks; how-to guides; and, a unique user-rating system. Listen.com points to all major formats of downloadable music.

As a leading provider of audio services and a founding member of the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI), encoding.com has recently announced agreements to convert millions of audio tracks into downloadable format for Internet music sites.

"The hard truth of media convergence," continues Martin Tobias, "is that although it is difficult to create digital media, it is even more difficult to make it relevant and easy to find. This agreement with Listen.com is just one example of how encoding.com's focus on enabling Internet media strategies provides solutions that save time and generate revenue."

About Listen.com:

Listen.com is the Internet's first comprehensive directory of downloadable music. The site includes original reviews and categorization of thousands of artists and links to their legally posted work.

The company was founded in December 1998 by Robert Reid, a former venture capitalist and author of "Architects of the Web." Listen.com is backed by August Capital and Austin Ventures. It was seeded by Altos Ventures and three prominent Founder/CEOs: Chris Anderson, Imagine Media; Halsey Minor, CNET; and, Ted Waitt, Gateway Computers. Music industry visionary and veteran Chris Blackwell serves on Listen.com's board of directors.
