GACK!1.54 FY2000 vs. 1.42?!?
Microsoft sees FY 00 EPS in $1.54 range
Monday July 19, 5:45 pm Eastern Time
SEATTLE, July 19 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. Chief Financial Officer Greg Maffei said Monday he would encourage financial analysts to leave unchanged their fiscal 2000 estimates for the software giant.

Asked in an interview about the current consensus figure of $1.54 a share for 2000 Maffei said, ''That sounds like a good number.'' That compared with $1.42 per diluted share for the year just ended.

He said he was relying on ''traditional Microsoft conservatism'' to encourage caution even though the company beat earnings expectations for the latest quarter.
