Think of that long call as LEAPs. Yes, you can write calendar spreads which are equal to a covered calls against the LEAPs.

Is there a way to find out whether calls purchased were done naked or covered? I'm in a very low open interest position on some Aug 7.5 calls and the stock currently trades around 7. Heck, for the last couple weeks I was the ONLY open interest in this thing.

If the writer wrote them 'covered', even if I sell some of the calls and exercise the others, the writer probably still made money. If they are 'naked', then I could cause some hurt if it goes into the money. Yes, no, maybe so?
