So long as the liberals have control of NBC< CBS< ABC< and you might as well forget about CNN, there never will be any truth in the news. Just what they want the uninformed American people to hear. Fox is the only News I watch now. R

Of all places you have to post about my area. Even though I am tired of you I am forced to respond.

Guns are not popular here and nobody has them, but this is a different town than it was 30 years ago, since high tech industry has shown up. The shooting range is a blast from the past and most everyone I know wants to shut it down. Connected to the shooting range is a gun shop. If you closed the shooting range, the gun shop would also go away at which point there would be nowhere in the area to obtain guns. Yes yes you could drive 100 miles away to the oakland inner city if you wanted to but I doubt this person would have done that. The fact is, this individual acquired a gun at the general proximity of this range and then threatened people with a gun he acquired there and was apprehended by someone else from there. The entire episode would not have existed had this shooting range been removed.

I am not an extreme anti-gun person really although I am no fan of guns, and I don't want to live with guns which is why I live here. But this story was not publicized because it is a bunch of falsified baloney. If right wing gun nut #1 saves somebody from right wing gun nut #2 I really don't think its newsworthy. BTW there is very little crime here and would be even less if they removed guns completely.

Well, the moral of the story is if you want to know how to pilot a Saratoga II, tune in to CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS. If you want real news, try Fox.

JLA, the "media"-sword cuts at both edges...

There have even been cases of a policeman under fire being rescued by a private citizen with a gun. One year, more criminals were reported killed by private citizens than by the police. But it wasn't reported very widely.

This isn't really good news, although the author obviously places it like "good news anti-gun-control". If you assume that the lethality rate of private citizens' and police officers' in dangerous situations were the same, or very similar, the news could go untouched.
But what if the police officers, more used to and experienced in coping with wild-looking youths, minor criminals, just any generic type of potentially dangerous people and situtations simply controlled their trigger better while still being able to break the danger of the situation ?

And if the so-defined lethality rate was ten times less for policemen than for ordinary citizens (I think this might well be), then the way of reporting the fact was actually concealing the truth.

I am discussing here only (strict sense of the word!) on the use of information in media, not over gun control.

Regards MNI.
