China lost to Vietnam in ground battles in late 70's in border disputes. China's military strong points is they require a lot of opposition ammo to kill off. But on the other hand, it takes them a lot of equipment to equip them. Hence, most of their forces use outdated equipment. (Otherwise, their military budget would be many times the U.S. for a relatively small economy)
