KEANE ANNOUNCES TWO APPLICATION OUTSOURCING ENGAGEMENTS Have Achieved CMM Level 4

Keane Further Differentiates Itself In Outsourcing Market Through Level 4 Achievements And 18 Level 3 Engagements

BOSTON, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading IT consulting firm Keane, Inc. (Amex: KEA) today announced two of its application outsourcing engagements have been successfully evaluated at Level 4 as measured against the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM(R)).

The CMM has been used by Keane as a means of validating and antifying the business value it brings to its clients. Keane's Sears, Roebuck and Company and Peoples Energy engagements, which are managed by its Chicago branch office, are its first two clients to achieve the esteemed Level 4. According to the SEI, less than three percent of all evaluated organizations achieve a Level 4 rating.

Having advanced CMM processes in place provide Sears and Peoples Energy with key business benefits, including significant productivity improvements, quicker development cycles, lower production application support costs, improved process quality, and the achievement of a high-performance IT organization that supports the business.

The evaluations at Sears and Peoples Energy were performed by an objective third party, the Center for Systems Management (CSM), a worldwide training firm specializing in project management, systems
engineering and software process improvements. CSM has also recently certified 18 of Keane's application outsourcing engagements at Level 3, including Public Service Electric & Gas of New Jersey, AT&T, Carrier Corporation, Toyota, Bell Atlantic and West Group. Keane has achieved its Level 4 and Level 3 success in less than two years. "The corporate commitment to CMM within Keane is impressive," said Gene McGuire, lead evaluator, Center for Systems Management. "The company has accomplished a great deal through its internal SEI Compliance group and has seen significant results.
One result of their strategy is that Keane is now able to further differentiate itself in the outsourcing market by demonstrating significant value-added capabilities to its clients, such as implementing disciplined and rigorous processes that are supported by policies and procedures and produce reliable and consistent ..tion." "With Keane's help, Sears has joined a handful of companies who
can say they have some of the best possible IT processes in place," said Judie Lavezzi, manager of production support business, Sears. "Keane's world-class methodologies and dedicated efforts to bring
our processes to Level 4 will give Sears that extra edge in the marketplace you cannot find with most of our competitors."

For the application outsourcing engagements with Sears and Peoples Energy, Keane is providing on-going maintenance, enhancements and support for their business critical legacy applications through its application management solution. Keane strategically leverages its rigorous and comprehensive solution with the SEI's CMM to provide customers with a strong process-driven environment. Keane incorporates performance metrics, project management disciplines, continuous improvement activities, and tight management controls, including quality reviews, project planning and monitoring, all of which conform to the SEI's CMM Level 3 and Level 4 key process areas. "Keane is continually raising the bar on the management of software applications," said Brian Keane, co-president, Keane, Inc. "This is reflected by our focus on metrics, continuous improvement, and our
commitment to achieving CMM compliance on all of our significant application outsourcing projects to help provide quantifiable business benefit to our clients. Having two CMM Level 4 engagements and 18 CMM Level 3 engagements is a record we believe no competitor can match."

I still think this company looks like a good one. Can't believe the total lack of interest in it.
