The geology of our western literature? That is a really nice turn of phrase, X. I am not sure that knowing where the title comes from is absolutely necessary to appreciating the work, however. Is that what you are saying? If that is so, then I think that as American literature becomes less related to historical European literature, it may actually become richer. This evening, for some reason, the entire concept of western civilization gives me a headache, so I think I will go eat sunflower seeds and watch MTV with my daughter. Is anyone following Real World or Road Rules, two series on MTV? These are actually fascinating studies of real young adults, and I enjoy them.
