Here's some good news. I know the Yahoo thread is mostly BS, so take this for what you will. It's mostly cut and paste from a news release, I believe.

SMART MODULAR TECHNOLOGIES, INC. RAMPED AND READY FOR HIGH-SPEED TEST AND PRODUCTION OF
RAMBUS(R) RIMM(TM) MODULES * 100% RIMM MODULE Testing on HP95000 Tester * 100% Incoming PCB Impedance Testing *
Fully Upgraded Surface-Mount Equipment Supporting Micron BGA RDRAM(TM) Devices * Automated Heat Spreader Assembly
Capabilities

FREMONT, Calif., Jul 19, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- SMART
Modular Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMOD) announced today that it is ready for full-scale Rambus RIMM module testing and production.
SMART has addedtop-of-the-line Hewlett-Packard test equipment and has fully upgraded its assembly linesto support volume RIMM module
production.

SMART has incorporated Hewlett-Packard's most advanced tester, the HP95000, for 100% testing of volume production RIMM modules.
The HP95000 tester, available only to a limited number of OEMs, ensures SMART's RIMM modules meet the highest standards of ATE
(automated test equipment) testing. With the HP95000, SMART has the capability to test 16 high-speed RDRAM devices in parallel, the
highest throughput in the industry, especially when compared to the traditional one-up module testing.

"HP is pleased to be able to provide leading manufacturing companies like SMART with the latest in high-speed testing equipment," stated Walt
Edgerley, Hewlett-Packard's ATE Account Manager. "We are dedicated to supporting SMART's present and future requirements in the
on-going upgrade of theirproduction lines," Edgerley continued.

To ensure all RIMM modules meet strict impedance specifications,
SMARThas implemented a 100% incoming inspection test system. Advanced impedance measuring equipment is used to measure each bare
PCB. This new process insures all RIMM modules meet Rambus' tight 28 ohm + 10% impedance specifications.

Blah, blah, blah, I had to cut it off here to fit into Yahoo's message size limit.
